The Highgate Crane Incident

Overnight, someone found themselves stuck on the Highgate crane and couldn't come down so they called emergency services. Nice one! Of course as a result, all the maggots come crawling out with their fancy misinformed opinions about how people climb cranes for popularity, posting it on Instagram and Snapchat.

Comment made by some mutt on the incident's original post

I admit, I succumbed to the pressure of Instagram after months of being asked and finally started an account for my photos. Whilst I've always posted on YouTube, I also started up an account on TikTok.

I've heard of the "war" in Melbourne where a bunch of low-life dickhead Instagrammers are climbing the cranes JUST for stupid ass selfies. That's it. They put this (sport? activity?) into disrepute and give social climbers a bad name.

We don't really have this in Perth. If we wanted these bullshit 'likes' and whatevers, we would make an effort to market and promote our photos. Do you see this? NO! Do you see me posting selfies of my climbs? NO

I don't post photos to brag. I have a passion for photography, the view of the city at night, the damn awesome nights, the feeling of a climb... and most importantly (supposedly)... climbing is pretty much the only times I don't think of suicide.

Yeah... I get that suicide is more socially accepted than crane climbs. I know. I get it.

I post my photos online to SHOW you a view of Perth you don't normally get to see. I don't post with the intention of bragging. You don't climb cranes, say hey... let me do it for you to show you how amazing it looks.

And as I always say... I feel safe climbing these cranes. I STOP when I don't feel that way. I might even walk away. I believe it's safer than bungee jumping or skydiving because I am in control.

Rant over. Please don't ruin it for us. Be informed.
