A new $17m oncology facility is under construction at St John of God Hospital in Murdoch.
The cancer-care facility is expected to be completed in November 2021 and opening in early 2022. The private radiation oncology facility will provide 1,825sqm of healthcare space across three-levels. It will have the capacity to treat up to 1,000 cancer patients a year and will be fully integrated into the Murdoch Hospital.
The building will feature two radiation bunkers, consulting suites, first and secondary recovery rooms and ground-breaking theranostics and nuclear medicine services including the latest molecular imaging equipment.
For those who are too unwell to travel, including the many patients who receive palliative care at Murdoch Hospice, it will mean being able to benefit from services accessible in one location. All patients, private or public, will be able to access the service with the cost of treatment largely covered by Medicare rebates.
DAP/19/01654: Approved on 11/10/2019. $16,000,000.
