The old Townsend Lodge on Adelaide Terrace was demolished towards the end of 2020 to make way for Finbar's new AT238 apartment blocks, much to the disgust of local residents who feared they would lose their expensive views of the Swan River and city skyline.
After Finbar purchased the 1697sqm block of land for a mere $6.5 million in October 2019, the $31 million apartment complex featuring luxury private resort facilities was given the approval by the Perth Development Assessment Panel in July 2020, starting work only recently in June of this year (2021).
Featuring a podium design with 'honeycomb' facade and LED lighting, the bronze-coloured aluminium screens and frameless glazing for commercial tenancies on the ground floor is expected to enrich Perth's skyline, as promised by Finbar.
With a mix of one, two and three bedroom apartments, communal facilities include an entertainment deck with a swimming pool, sauna, massage room, theatrette, dining room, lounge, games room, business centre, a gym, rooftop deck equipped with an outdoor cabana and barbecue area with unrestricted river and skyline views. Why would you bother going to Bali?
DAP/20/01773: Demolition of the existing lodging house and the construction of a 32-level mixed-use development containing 119 multiple dwellings, 142 car parking bays and two commercial tenancies. Approved on 02/07/2020. $31,000,000.
